Unsere ersten Eindrücke/ Our first impressions

Namaste !

Nun sind wir endlich seit dem 4. August in Indien gelandet.

Our first impressions:

On the 4th of August we have finally arrived in India. Back in Germany we had to take part in two seminars. Additionally, we started our time in India with another one on the campus of the Karl Kübel Institute for Development Education in the southern-most state of India, Tamil Nadu, nearby Coimbatore.
We spent our first week surrounded by coconut palm trees and the breathtaking landscape of the Western Ghats among all the other KKS volunteers for India. Whilst eating our first original Indian dish and buying our first churidars (Indian dress women must wear besides the traditionally saree) our mentor Malathi slowly introduced us to the Indian Lifestyle. There was no culture shock as we were not hosted among all the chaos of the Indian cities, but in a quiet and rural area. We almost felt homelike as we had to prepare a traditionally german breakfast for the staff of the KKID.
Along with some icebreaker and energizer we met our mentors, who work at VOSARD and will take care of us in the future 8 months. Together we got to know each other quiet well as we spoke a lot about our time ahead.
The seminar really was a gentle start into our exciting time in India. Because of our actual place of action still being constructed (the construction should be completed in October), we will join Lukas and Florian in Kumily at the main office of VOSARD for the first months.
Henceforth we will be busy with our project work at VOSARD. On this blog we will be trying to keep you up to date.
